We bred a *NEW* Species in our MIXED Aviary!
We had a big surprise in the aviary. We managed to breed a new species. Is it the Chestnut-breasted mannikins, or the African silverbills? Let's find out what happened.

Tips for Keeping and Breeding STAR FINCHES, Aviary Birds
Afwachten dus, zullen vast wel tot broeden komen. 👍
That's a good bird daddy! And wood is more natural for the birds.
Try some plastic boxes easier to clean and sterilise you ain't gona sterilise wood.
I have coturnix quail. Some outside and some inside. My inside birds are pets. I have 2 tux marked. A male and female.
That's so cool
Also what brand of lice spray do you use
Beaphar 404 spray
Do you buy or make your own nesting boxes? What’s cheaper?
I buy them to much of a hassle to make them myself and wood is so expensive these days
@@MrAviary ok thanks where do you buy them? Amazon, local bird shows??
@@user-qs4rd5ei6r local bird shows and Shops
Man you weee gone again. Glad to have ya back
Sorry busy life, try to upload a short every week. And now and then a longer video
I hope you feed them pellets, fruits, veggies and cuttlebones.
They get a very varied diet
Peas and Carrots (names for new budgies. Please make and sell indoor aviary packages foe people like me to buy from you and read directions to put it together. Please!?
nice names, nice idea but I don't have the time for that for now, maybe in the future
The hide from the bricks is an easy, affordable and convertible idea! Btw, don't you have any bird lamps for them?
I have led lights in all my cages
@@MrAviary those don't include uva and uvb they need to form vitamin D?
Ohhh how exciting! I didn’t know you did anything with Budgies? What colors do you have / like?
I have the Blue ones. I already have one chick this year. Check out my other shorts to see him.
And if i have 3/4 of egg dark but the rest is white then i have late death too?😢
Or very close to hatching so I would leave them for a couple of days
@@MrAviary ok, i can do it. Have them fingers crossed!
Anyone got any tips for an aviary for canaries in the uk (only have 2 of them but i also love these birfd and they love to fly about so an aviary would be s fun idea
Canaries have the same demands as finches.
Very nice aviary.
Many thanks
👍
Thanks
Love from Morocco! Great video!
Awesome! Thank you!
Came here because I found about 5 eggs in my garden box. The next day there were 7. Now there are 11. I had been growing zinnias in the box and first discovered the eggs while watering the flowers. The day I found the 7 eggs, I frightened a quail that had been sitting on them and she(?) ran away. I spilled some kettle popcorn in the box and then thought maybe I shouldn't interfere. After a couple days the quail came back and laid the remaining eggs. Now we are in this routine of the zinnias baking in the sun all day until the quail leaves so I can water them. She comes back some time before I get up in the morning because when I come out (even as early as 5am), she's already sitting on them. I don't know how to care for quails and I think she's probably got it all under control but I also don't want to do any harm. My flowers are shot to hell. Their watering schedule is so off and they look bad but I don't want to upset the Mom sitting on the eggs by attempting to water around her. It's over 100 degrees out. I'm afraid to offer food because: (a.) I don't want to upset the natural order she probably is used to and (b.) I don't want to attract predators or pests to disturb the environment. Any advice?
I always say, lets nature run its course. How are they doing?
So far, still good. She doesn’t even run when I come out to water the flowers. (I keep a distance too). From the day I first discovered them, I’m guessing there’ll be due the end of the month. Still staying out of the way. An occasional daddy(?) quail comes around to yip a bit. When I come in and out throughout the day, I greet her with a gentle “hey chickie” but nothing more. She’s used to our voices and steps coming and going, I think.
Sadly my bird eggs are infertile. Same as three yrs. Good luck on chick
Sorry to hear that
what breed is your quail?
Chinese button quail or also called king quail
Amazing to see natural behaviour in the aviary❤
Yes indeed
Wow that’s awesome. Never seen that before
Me neither
Leuk om dat zo te zien. 👍
👍😁
I want start making my aviary its will be 3.5 m x 6m how many species I should put please
Depends on the species but for the finches you can easily house 15 couples. Be aware of the more aggressive finches they need more space.
i found three robin eggs and day one there was only a yellow spot but now i checked today and one of them has a heart beat
How did the eggs do?
@@MrAviary the were supposed to hatch 3 days ago
@@MrAviary they were basically fully developed the only difference was that they had a small bubble at the bottom they hopefully are just late hatchers
Love it! Will use some of these details for my future mini aviary
Thank you very much
My king quail didn't hatch her eggs What's i should do??
Did she incubate them?
Mooie blauwe 👍
Ja hij lijkt op mijn allereerste Vogel 😁
Do you give your finches grit?
Yes I do

hello mr aviary, may i ask you where you are located? I´ve just put my finches outside in there aviary, but for a long time i´ve been looking for a female to my tri-colored parrot finch but with no luck. I live in Denmark and it seems close to impossible to find anyone who keeps them here. lovely day to you my friend.
I'm from the Netherlands. Here it's with ups and downs. sometimes it is relatively easy to find them and then for years, it looks impossible. The same is true for cordon blues. I am looking for a pair for over a year now. Hope you find one soon.
Could you keep normal size quail coturnix with button quail, I read button quail would hatch coturnix quail eggs. it’s that true ?
Never seen that before. If the aviary is big enough it could work however if they do get into a fight the button quails are at a real disadvantage. I have never seen them in one aviary.
Wow looks great, Does sand on floor work well
Thanks, yes sand is so easy to clean and the especially the quails love it.
Hi bro, how long does a button quail chick need to be under heat-lamp after hatching? Im in Singapore (consider hot region 😅) Kindly, please advise...Thank you🙏🏻
It depends indeed on the weather. But, for the first two weeks, I would keep a heat lamp in the corner of their enclosure. Then you can see for yourself if they keep using it.
Thank you for your kind reply🙏🏻❤. Can i just place "5V heat-pad in a corner of the brooder without heat-lamp for 1 week old chick?
@@sristy1989 I don't know never tried that
its very easy to catch in small quantify birds how you catch self chicks in big amount birds
Can i ask what plants youre using? I want to live plant my flight this year but dont want to put anything toxic in there obviously. Thanks and looks great by the way!
I'm using grasses, coniferous/pine Species. These are safe to use.
Looks great, I’ve always liked the way you lay out your aviaries. Well done 👍🏻
Thank you very much appreciate it
Ben benieuwd of er ook een filmpje van de bouw zelf komt.
Zeker, die ben ik net begonnen met editen maar dat duurt wat langer
Looks awesome I am building a new aviary to what plants did you use in uourz
Different Grasses, small pinetrees and I often use coniferous Species
Kan niet wachten tot de vogels erin komen. Ben benieuwd wat ze er van gaan vinden. 👍
Ze krijgen in ieder geval meer ruimte
Can coturnix quail & button quail mate and have babies?
I think it is very unlikely but I don't know for sure.
When is ur new video coming out?
working on a longer video at the moment. Try to keep posting shorts regularly.
Ok thx. My gouldian finches are finally breeding
My male is setting on eggs from two female.
I have the Japanese variety of button quail
@@hksm98 Cool, for button quails only the female incubates the eggs
Where do you live

My 3 baby zebra finches are just 3 wks old. They started hatching on April 29th. Yesterday all three came out of their nests! (So cute) They can fly a bit & I started getting them use to perching on my finger. Should I offer food & water in a dish on the floor of the cage at this time? Parents have a diet of Lafeber's finch premium daily pellets, Kaylee supreme seed, I also make soft food for them (Carrots, peas, Nyjer, hard boiled egg (only from our hens) kale, broccoli, Quiko Classic Egg Food. Are these foods what I should start the babies on? I also have, exact hand feeding formula. Should I utilize this also? Currently parents are taking excellent care of the 3. I offer bird baths to the adults daily, at what age will the babies venture into that? I am new to finch parenting and I’m learning. I make sure the babies are in the nest before I cover the cage. At what age is it okay to leave the babies on their perches? Should brother & sister be housed together, or at what age should they be separated? I'm happy I came upon your page. Thank you Colette
The parents will feed them for multiple days. If you see the chicks eat on their own regularly you can separate them from their parents and each other. Looks like you are doing a great job. Hope you have some healthy chicks.
@@MrAviary Do you have a reference you can recommend to answer my questions?
@@colettevanderkin3881 I would try and find a forum to ask your question. Maybe you can ask on my discord channel. Don't know if their are a lot of zebra finches breeders on there.
thanks for the black paint mesh i have this on my aviary and it is very good
Think it's the best tip I also learned during my hobby
Hi,I want to ask you a little about king quails, during the warm season king quails will lay eggs but do they lay eggs in the morning or evening and at what time? I am raising 4 king quails and they are more than 10 weeks old. I want to film a short video of the first egg. They are lovely pets. I need good memories of them.
Mostly in the morning but this can be different for each individual
